McCormack: it's a strange kind of situation

August 15, 2018

Ballinkillen manager Anthony McCormack was disappointed to see his side lose out to Mount Leinster Rangers in the SHC, but added that being in the semi-final already certainly hampers preparations.

MLR cruised to victory in the opening round of the Carlow SHC, but Ballinkillen can bounce back this weekend with a win over defending champions St Mullin's.

However, the odds are stacked against them doing that, but with only four teams in the championship, they are through to the semi-final anyway.

And McCormack told the Carlow Nationalist that focusing the players was a difficult assignment given they are already in the last four.

"It's a strange kind of situation where you are playing a game but you know you are in a semi-final already," stated the Dunamaggin native.

"Any team would find it hard to get up to it. It was disappointing. We had been going well up to that but it never happened on the day. We had to move on and make sure it doesn't happen again."
