Obviously disappointed to see his charges lose a National league final in Croke Park, Carlow manager Turlough O'Brien is remaining positive ahead of the Leinster SFC.

Having guided the county out of the bottom tier of the NFL for the first time in 33 years, Carlow have a lot to be grateful for and O'Brien is looking towards this positivity as they go forward.

A four-point loss to Laois in last Saturday's final was disappointing, but O'Brien was keen to look at the bigger picture when speaking to the Carlow Nationalist.

"Laois are a good team. They know how to win. They have a lot of experience in their team. It was a good contest and we will learn from it," stated O'Brien.

"We had a great campaign. The whole target was to get promoted. We have done that. The final was a bonus. It was a good game to get and brings us closer to the championship. It is good preparation for us for the championship."
