O'Leary hints at hurling return

Tomás O'Leary plans to return to his hurling roots next year after retiring from professional rugby last week.

Son of the legendary Seanie O'Leary, Tomás captained Cork to All-Ireland minor glory in 2001 before embarking on a successful rugby career with Munster, London Irish, Montpellier and, of course, Ireland.

In an interview with Cork's Red FM, the 33-year-old scrum half spoke of his desire to resume hurling with his club Erin's Own in 2018.

"Not this summer but hopefully next year. The championship is at the latter stages, it could be a bit of an ask for me to try and come into the team," he said.

"But come January and February and if the body and mind are still willing, I'd love to give it a crack next year.

"Get down to the bookies and back Erin's Own for 2018!" he jokingly added.
