Oisin McConville feels it's time for Armagh to take a big scalp in this year's All-Ireland football championship.

Speaking to the Irish Daily Star, the Crossmaglen man has talked up the Orchard County chances ahead of this weekend's crunch qualifier clash with Kildare at Croke Park, where the Ulster men are currently 9/4 underdogs

"I talked them up and got a bit of stick for that within Armagh. Just supporters saying, 'why don't you talk us down instead of talking us up?'

"I'm after spending five years talking us down. I genuinely felt as if there was more in us. Maybe we will still see some of that before the year is out. It's time for us to maybe take a big scalp somewhere along the line.

"But, I actually was quite impressed with them for a lot of the league, played some brilliant stuff during the league."

He added: "The run we are on now we have made a couple of baby steps. Maybe we'll make a couple more."
