Hurling fans who park in the vicinity of the new Pairc Ui Chaoimh at this weekend's All-Ireland SHC quarter-finals run the risk of having their cars towed away and being hit with parking fines.

Gardai are urging matchgoers to arrive 90 minutes early for the games on Saturday and Sunday to allow for parking in city centre car parks and for the walk to the revamped stadium.

Inspector Finbarr O'Sullivan said a traffic cordon will be in place around Pairc Ui Chaoimh and has advised spectators to either walk to the stadium or use public or shared transport. Only vehicles with disability passes issued by the GAA will be allowed inside the traffic cordon.

"There will be barrier checks on approaches to the stadium - items such as flares, alcohol, offensive weapons, bottles and airhorns will be confiscated," he told the Irish Examiner.
