Cathal McCarron has expressed his great respect for Tyrone manager Mikey Harte.

The long-serving Tyrone manager has come in for criticism in recent years, despite having led the Red Hands to three All-Irelands and six Ulster championships.

Key defender McCarron says all criticism of the Tyrone boss should be disregarded and that there should be no talk of him being replaced: "Anybody that ditches Mickey Harte is a fool's man," he told The Irish News following Sunday's impressive provincial final victory over Down.

"The amount of respect that man deserves, words can't describe, not only me but everyone in that changing room will tell you what Mickey Harte means to this team.

"He's not called the master for nothing. He's fantastic at what he does and we've the utmost respect for him. He's a mighty man and to write him off would be foolish. Mickey puts the work in and he gets his rewards for it."
