Dublin annexed their seventh Leinster SFC title in-a-row but it was a first provincial senior medal for their top scorer Con O'Callaghan.

The highly impressive Cuala sharpshooter accumulated 12 white flags in total as the team in sky blue prevailed on a scoreline of 2-23 to 1-17.

"We got a great team performance which was what we were after and the minors got a great win as well so it's happy days," he remarked to RTE's 'The Sunday Game' out on the Croke Park pitch shortly after the final whistle.

The 21-year-old took over the free taking duties following Dean Rock's black card and was successful with six placed balls.

"Got a couple of frees there as well so I was helped out by the lads," he added. "The team performance was the most important thing on the day and we managed to get over the line.

"I've taken them at underage. We've discussed that, if Dean is off or anyone else is off it's just the next man up. Everyone will execute their frees so that's what we want."

Kildare can't be faulted for effort but they just came up against a superior team on the day.

"We were expecting a fight back. Especially after half-time we knew they'd come out fighting. We look forward to it and we embrace the challenge. It's great to get over the line.

"Kildare were unlucky with a couple of their shots, we executed ours. That's the way it goes."
