Wicklow GAA is to draw up a plan to help develop Gaelic games in the county over the coming years.

The County Board have already taken the first steps in what they must do after their delegates were presented with a report from the Leinster Council.

Shane Flanagan and Michael Dempsey represented the provincial body at the meeting and they presented their findings.

They found that there was no strategic plan in place in Wicklow; low gate receipts, low commercial income; no clear plan for games development or coaching; more of a 'team Wicklow' ethic needed; higher standard of games needed for young players and more buy-in needed.

The report did find that there was good use of finance in terms of county teams.

The county board is set to address the issues raised and put a plan in place to help promote the GAA in Wicklow.
