Tipperary's chances of promotion from division three have been hampered, according to their manager Liam Kearns.

The decision to postpone their clash against Longford at Semple Stadium last Sunday means that the Premier County now face into four games in four weeks.

Kearns was left perturbed that their game was called off in order to ensure the pitch was playable for the clash between the Tipp hurlers and Clare.

However, the football game is once again a curtainraiser to the hurling this weekend as Tipp face Longford and then their hurlers face Kilkenny.

"Our drive for promotion has now been compromised because we now have to play four games for four weeks-in-a-row," said Kearns.

"We wanted the game on. We offered to play the game after the hurlers at Semple Stadium and we were refused.

"Myself and Joe Hannigan contacted six different clubs in an attempt to get an alternative venue on the Saturday and we were unable to get one. We wanted this game on and we desperately wanted it on. And we made every effort to get the game on."
