An improved performance is a must for Tipperary footballers this weekend stresses manager Liam Kearns.

Defeat to Sligo in the last round of the NFL Division Two campaign means that Tipp cannot afford anymore slip ups.

This Saturday evening, they travel to Portlaoise where they will take on Laois in round three and Kearns told the Tipperary Star that an improved performance is essential.

"That's what we would be looking for more than anything else - that we perform better than we have in the last two matches and that we let the result look after itself," said Kearns.

"That's what we are looking for and that's the message that we have sent to the players. We are looking for a performance against Laois. What happens after that we live with."
