Tipperary manager Michael Ryan has stressed that results do count in the NHL.
Many have presumed that inter-county managers use the league as preparation for the championship, which obviously to an extent is the case, but Ryan is adamant that the Premier County will be doing their best to go as far as they can in the competition.
Having not entered the Munster SHL again, this will be the Tipperary management's first chance to run the rule over fringe players in competitive action and Ryan told the Tipperary Star that it was all about getting the balance right.
"We need results. In terms of team planning, first and foremost, we will be looking for results because that is the nature of these groups," said Ryan.
"We have played previous leagues that I have been involved in and it has been on a knife edge. We always set out our stall that we want to get to the quarterfinal, but we are never assured of that position."
Tipp's first outing is this Saturday evening as they take on Dublin at Croke Park. Throw in is at 5pm.
