Eamon Reilly is the new chairman of the Longford county board.

The Forgney clubman defeated the outgoing Brendan Gilmore by 46 votes to 38 to be elected to the top position at last night's annual convention in The Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule. Reilly previously served as vice-chairman and assistant treasurer. First elected chairman in 2013, Rathcline clubman Gilmore was hoping to see out the final year of a five-year term in 2017.
