Kerry legend Egan to be immortalised in bronze

December 10, 2016

Former Kerry great John Egan

A bronze statue of the late Kerry star John Egan will be unveiled in Sneem next June.

So far, the local GAA club has raised about one third of the €30,000 cost involved. The fundraising committee is now appealing to Kerry GAA fans worldwide to help raise the balance so that the foundry can commence its work.

Donations can be made directly to Sneem GAA, c/o Tim O Sullivan, chairman of the 'John Egan Memorial Committee' or by logging on to www.gofundme.com/john-egan-memorial.

Egan was one of the stars of the great Kerry team of the 1970s and 1980s, winning six All-Ireland and nine Munster medals. He died at his Cork home in 2012 at the age of 59.
