Cuala defender Paul Schutte says his club are only "halfway there" in their bid to reach next year's All-Ireland club SHC final.

The Dalkey club were crowned Leinster champions for the first time in their history on Sunday after defeating Kilkenny's O'Loughlin Gaels in convincing fashion in Portlaoise and their centre-back says they'll be looking forward to February's All-Ireland semi-final showdown with fellow history makers Slaughtneil.

"Listen, we're only halfway there. We have our eyes on something bigger and we will just keep going at it," Schutte is quoted saying in today's Irish Daily Star.

"It's absolutely brilliant (to win the Leinster title) but it was moreso beating the dads and uncles. They always held it over us that they've won three (Dublin) championships when we done the back-to-back, but they never got a Leinster, so that was the big one for us.

"I remember sitting in my uncle's house at Christmas and we were picking our All-Ireland team when I was a young lad. It was kind of a bit of a dream but now it's turning into a reality.

"We are not going to get ahead of ourselves. We still have plenty of work to do but the opportunity is there."
