A disappointing season for Na Piarsaigh had a happy ending when they were crowned Limerick All-County Hurling League Division 1 champions yesterday.

The city side, whose reign as county, Munster and All-Ireland champions was ended prematurely last August, put paid to Patrickswell's bid for a league and championship double thanks to a narrow 1-18 to 2-14 victory in Mungret, with county star Shane Dowling accounting for 0-13 of their tally.

The 'Well led by four points with a minute of normal time remaining, but in a dramatic finale, Conor Boylan found the net and Peter Casey and Ronan Lynch fired points to snatch the title for Na Piarsaigh.

With the game also doubling up as the Limerick City Division SHC final, the sky blues had double reason to celebrate.
