New Zealand's All Blacks warmed up for today's crunch International test against Ireland with a spot of hurling yesterday.

The rugby super stars visited Sheriff YC Community Centre in Dublin's north inner city where they received a crash course in gaelic games from Dublin's football and hurling heroes.

"It reminds me of my school days, we had inter-school games and we have the haka between two schools," Scott Barrett - who spent some time in Oldcastle, Co Meath in his youth - told The Irish Times.

"It's pretty awesome that the local people have gotten behind the rugby here."

New Zealand Rugby and Dublin GAA are sponsored by AIG, and the teams were brought together as part of the insurers' new "Heroes" community initiative for the development of future leaders.

Some of the travelling party also visited Seapoint Rugby Club, Killiney and Sam Whitelock, for one, was impressed with the skills on show by the youngsters.

"The children are more skilful than I was at that age," he remarked to The Irish Independent.

"I think with the Gaelic [football], they are outstanding with the ball and their kicking.

"Their handling is great too."
