Scotland head coach Ronald Ross reckons Ireland will be well up for tomorrow's Hurling/Shinty international test in Inverness after they were humbled in the same fixture last year.

The Scots enjoyed their biggest win in eight years - 3-15 to 2-8 - before Ireland exacted revenge with a narrow win in the return leg at Croke Park.

"Ireland have again upped the ante this year and that's down to our better performances in 2015 when we won in Inverness and we only lost by two points at Croke Park," Ross told the Inverness Courier.

"They have named a strong squad which makes it all the harder for us but that's what you want; you want to test yourself against the best."

Ross is hoping the Scots can take advantage of the fact that several of the Irish players are have never played in the series before.

"The new Irish players in their squad will quickly see that they have to make adjustments.

"They can't catch the ball and that's a big thing for them. Some players adjust to that quickly and some take a bit longer and that's one reason why Ireland seems to get stronger as the game goes on," he added.
