Seamus McEnaney has been appointed as manager of the Wexford senior footballers for 2017.

The former Monaghan and Meath manager is the Model County's choice to take over from David Power who stepped down after two years at the helm.

One of the main priorities for the Corduff clubman will be to steer Wexford out of Division 4 of the Allianz Football Leagues following their relegation last Spring.

A statement issued by Wexford GAA reads: "On foot of a recommendation from the FAC, agreement has been reached with Seamus McEnaney from Monaghan to assume the role of SF Manager for a 3 year period subject to review at end of year 2.

"Considerable consultation has taken place with key panel members and the appointment will be warmly received by them and supporters generally.

"We wish Seamus and the players well."
