The late Colonel Jack Griffin wasn't forgotten about when Thurles Sarsfields claimed Tipperary SHC honours for the third year running yesterday.

It's nearly a year since the 47-year-old father-of-three died tragically. Then a part of their management team, Jack's sudden passing caused widespread shock and resulted in the postponement of Sarsfields' Munster club SHC clash with Na Piarsaigh by a week.

In a lovely tribute after Thurles' victory over Kiladangan yesterday, team captain Padraic Maher left the honour of lifting the Dan Breen Cup to Jack's three young daughters, Larragh, Isabelle and Emma.

Club president Mickey 'The Rattler' Byrne was also in the thoughts of the Thurles faithful after the legendary corner back also passed away at the age of 93 yesterday morning.
