Dominant Thurles Sarsfields maintained their vice-like grip on the Dan Breen Cup when getting the better of Kiladangan on a scoreline of 0-27 to 1-15 in Semple Stadium today.

It was an emotional victory for Sars' following the passing of Mickey 'The Rattler' Byrne this morning and they did the great man's memory proud with an authoritative display.

Making their first appearance in the county final since 1938, Kiladangan played second fiddle for the majority of the contest and trailed by 0-6 to 0-15 at half-time.

The underdogs reduced the deficit to seven points with the first two scores of the second-half but normal service was soon restored and Thurles Sarsfields won at their ease.

Joe Gallagher pulled a goal back for Kiladangan in the second-half but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation score.
