Dessie Dolan could yet fulfil his playing and RTE punditry duties today - by flying by helicopter from Mullingar to Dublin.

The former All Star is due to line out for Garrycastle against champions St. Loman's in the Westmeath SFC quarter-final at 2.30pm in TEG Cusack Park, just two-and-a-half hours before the All-Ireland final replay throws in. Westmeath GAA were not in a position to bring the game forward because Garrycastle are also involved in the senior ladies final against St. Loman's in The Downs at 1pm.

So organising a helicopter would seem to be the only solution to Dessie's dilemma.

Dessie, who will be part of RTE's analysis team alongside Tomas O Se and Ciaran Whelan, previously flew by helicopter from his brother Gary's wedding in Co. Meath at which he was Best Man to line out for Westmeath in a Leinster SFC victory over Offaly at O'Connor Park in 2008.
