Dublin Bus to run as normal on Saturday

September 29, 2016

A general view of a Dublin bus.

It's all falling into place: those attending Saturday's All-Ireland SFC final replay will not be inconvenienced by a Dublin Bus strike after all.

A 24-hour stoppage was planned for October 1st, which would have greatly inconvenienced thousands of Dublin and Mayo supporters forced to use alternative means of transport to and from Croke Park.

But the proposed Dublin Bus strikes have this afternoon been suspended pending a ballot of staff after marathon talks at the Workplace Relations Commission.

Unions were seeking a 15% pay increase but have succeeded in securing 3.75% per year over the next three years. Workers will be balloted on the offer to see if they are prepared to accept it, but all planned industrial action has been suspended regardless of the outcome of that vote.
