Jack McCaffrey captured hurling honours with his club Clontarf yesterday.
The reigning Footballer of the Year, who missed this year's football championship campaign after spending the summer in Ethiopia as a GOAL ambassador, was among the scorers as Clontarf defeated Wild Geese by 4-12 to 1-10 in the Dublin junior hurling championship E final at Parnell Park yesterday morning.
"I wouldn't be much of a hurler," McCaffrey modestly replied when asked by the Herald if he would be tempted to switch codes.
Clontarf manager Kevin Collins noted how the All-Ireland winner was a role model for the youngsters in the club.
"He's a genuinely top-class sports and clubman. Parents have come up to me after the match and said that it was fantastic that younger players were able to play alongside Jack McCaffrey."
