Cork's Pat Ryan

Cork have appointed Pat Ryan as their new senior hurling coach following Frank Flannery's departure from the role last month.

The Evening Echo reports that Rebels boss Kieran Kingston is also set to keep Ryan as a selector alongside backroom team members Diarmuid O'Sullivan and Pat Harnett

Ryan has had considerable success at club level, having led his native Sarfields to numerous county titles in recent years as they soared towards becoming the top side in the county.

This past summer saw Cork handed a heavy defeat by Tipperary in the Munster SHC, defeating Dublin in the qualifiers and eventually exiting the Liam McCarthy Cup race after a shock loss to Wexford.
