Mayo's losing run in All-Ireland SFC finals currently stands at seven and a loss on Sunday will see them enter the record books.

The Westerners are tied with Cork who also lost seven finals in a row, a record the Rebels have held for 108-years. Cork lost out in 1891, 1894, 1897, 1899, 1901, 1907 and 1908 before ending that streak by winning the 1911 final.

Since winning the 1951 final, Mayo have lost finals in 1989, '96, 97, 2004, '06, '12 and '13.

In total Mayo have lost in 11 finals and won three. Dublin (13), Cork (16) and Kerry (22) have all lost more finals than Mayo but they have had more success as well, with 25, 7 and 37 All-Ireland wins respectively.

Limerick are the only county who have contested a final not to have lost, with two wins from their two final appearances.

If Mayo are looking for some solace perhaps it can be taken from the fact that Cork's losing run ended three years after their seventh consecutive final loss.  Sunday's final mirrors that perfectly, coming three years after Mayo's seventh reverse in a decider.
