There were scenes of excitement at Netwatch Cullen Park last Friday evening as Carlow GAA marked the 80th anniversary of their famed old grounds.
To mark the occasion, the first ever floodlit game was played in Netwatch Cullen Park following the installation of the lights recently.
A parade was held from the centre of Carlow town out to the grounds and then the Carlow Colts under-14 development squad took to the field where a blitz was played with Laois and Kildare.
GAA President Aogan O'Fearghail was present and he praised the Carlow County Board for the work they had done.
"Well done to you all," the Carlow Nationalist reports O'Fearghail as saying. "Netwatch Cullen Park has served the men and women, the boys and girls of Carlow and the Leinster region very, very well.
"We value our wonderful facilities and want to make them even better. I want to compliment everyone but particularly you the clubs of Carlow and officers of the board who have made the effort to improve and make things better."
