Former Dublin All-Star Shane Ryan is advising caution ahead of today's All-Ireland SFC semi-final.

Jim Gavin's men are widely expected to maintain their winning ways but write the Kingdom off at your peril is the message from the Portmarnock man who gained All-Star recognition in 2008.

"I know a lot of people are picking Dublin as favourites but I really don't see it like that," he told The Irish Sun.

"They have a big target on their backs and Kerry have them in their sights. I'd be worried.

"I was pretty nervous for Dublin going into the Donegal quarter-final. They came through it but they have an even tougher test now.

"A lot will depend on James McCarthy and how fit he is. He can make a big difference.

"Kerry might have a thing in the back of their heads, especially some of the older lads who were playing in 2011.

"I'd say they felt they left that one behind them and they haven't managed to turn Dublin over since.

"When I was playing, when we played Kerry we were always the underdog. Your chances didn't get any better the more you lost to them, but they don't get any worse either."
