Cork heroes Sean Óg Ó hAilpín and Tom Kenny will coach the UCC Fresher hurling team in their coming campaign.

Ó hAilpín, who managed his club side Na Piarsaigh this year, and Kenny, were two of the stars of the Cork team that won back-to-back All-Irelands in 2004 and 2005. The Fiji-born Ó hAilpín, who captained the Rebels to the latter success, also won a Celtic Cross in 1999.

Stephen Moylan, Shane Bourke and Martin Walsh complete an impressive management team.

UCC hurling club president Dr Paddy Crowley is quoted in the Evening Echo as saying: "We are delighted that such an experienced group of sportsmen will be involved with the training and development of a new breed of college hurler this year.

"Over the years UCC GAA Club has promoted, in both codes, countless numbers of young players and has overseen their sporting progression and development. Seán Óg and the rest of the lads bring a wealth of experience which can only be good for those they will coach."
