Ryan McMenamin believes Sean Cavanagh still has a "very important" role to play with Tyrone.

The Red Hands veteran has yet to make a decision regarding his intercounty future but former team-mate McMenamin would love to see him stay on for another season to offer a guiding hand to the younger guns:

"Sean is only 33 years of age and he always keeps himself in great physical shape from one end of the year to the other, and obviously that factor is a huge plus for him," he states in The Irish Daily Mirror.

"Sean would have been delighted that this year we won the Ulster title for the first time since 2010 after Donegal and Monaghan dominating in the province in the meantime.

"The current average age of the Tyrone team is 24 and there may be some additional lads from last year's U21s moving up to join the likes of Niall McSludden and Cathal McShane on the senior team when the panel for next year is selected.

"So I think it would be very important and beneficial to have a player with the vast experience of Sean to steady the ship when the going gets a bit tough for the younger lads on the team."
