Tipperary upped their work-rate considerably in the second-half and that was key to their narrow penultimate stage victory over Galway, according to goal scorer John McGrath.

The Premier County overturned a two point half-time deficit thanks largely to goals from John 'Bubbles' O'Dwyer and McGrath.

When asked by RTE's 'The Sunday Game' what was said in the Tipperary dressing room at half-time, he answered: "We felt at half-time we hadn't been working hard enough, especially in the forwards.

"We really tried to up that in the second-half. I think we got a couple of scores off turnovers but it was really to up the work-rate and the hurling then came with that. It was a much improved second-half."

It didn't take long for the Tipp forward to turn his thoughts to All-Ireland final opponents Kilkenny.

"They're well battle hardened now. They're after having three good games, two against Waterford and one against Galway.

"They're so, so hard to put away. Waterford had them within a whisker twice and it's just very difficult.

"They know how to win so we're going to have to up it again and come up with a plan for them."
