Red Hands will fear no one, says Donnelly

Former Tyrone forward Mark Donnelly says the team's Ulster final victory over Donegal could propel them to new heights.

Late points from Peter Harte and Kieran McGeary gave the Red Hands their first provincial since 2010 - which Donnelly was a part of - and the Carrickmore clubman says the triumph of two weeks ago will have installed a huge sense of belief in Mickey Harte's squad.

"The fact that Donegal had beaten us on three previous occasions in the Championship, it was a big monkey off the back to get the win," Donnelly is quoted as saying in today's Irish News.

"A lot of the players in the panel didn't have an Ulster medal, so it was great for those players to win a medal at senior level.

"Obviously they would have had a lot of success at minor and U21 level. But to do it against one of the big hitters in Ireland is a big confidence-booster for Tyrone moving forward.

"They will be very confident now going into the All-Ireland series that they can go ahead and win it now."

He continued: "Donegal have been in the last six Ulster finals and they have been competing in All-Ireland semi-finals and finals, and obviously they won the All-Ireland back in 2012. So to beat Donegal will give them great confidence, and they will fear no team going forward, whether it be Mayo, Cork or Westmeath next in the quarter-finals.

"They'll be very confident of getting into the last four anyway and then taking it from there."
