Cathal O'Connor has been cleared to play in Clare's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Kerry on Sunday.

Clare county board confirmed that the midfielder was successful in his appeal against the red card he received in last Saturday's qualifier victory over Roscommon, with the sanction being reduced to a yellow card.

After reviewing TV replays, the Central Hearings Committee determined that O'Connor had tackled the ball against opponent Niall Daly, leading them to quash the ban and free up the Coolmeen clubman to partner Gary Brennan at midfield against the Kingdom this weekend.

The Central Hearing Committee issued the following statement this morning:

An Lár Choiste Cheannais na gComórtaisí (Central Competitions Control Committee) instituted Disciplinary Action against Cathal Ó Conchúir, alleging a breach of 7.2 (b) Category III, that is to say " To behave in any way which is dangerous to an opponent".

The player in question requested a Hearing which took place on 27ú Iúil. An Lár Choiste Éisteachta (Central Hearings Committee) found the Infraction not proven. However, An Lár Choiste Éisteachta found the evidence disclosed a less serious Infraction (Rough play) which warranted a yellow card.
