Davy Fitzgerald may be absent from the Semple Stadium sideline on Sunday as he was admitted to hospital in Dublin this morning.

RTE is reporting that the Banner County boss checked into a Galway clinic last night and is to undergo tests after being transferred to the capital.

Back in 2009, the All-Ireland winning goalkeeper underwent minor heart surgery to have stents inserted due to a blocked artery.

The Banner County are due to take on Galway in the last eight of the All-Ireland series this weekend in Thurles.

Clare remain hopeful that their manager will be well enough to take charge of the team on the day as they bid to book their semi-final ticket.
