Mayo's Keith Higgins admits that they must eliminate the mistakes against Fermanagh if they are to progress in this year's All-Ireland SFC.

This weekend, the Connacht side host Kildare in the next round of the qualifiers at MacHale Park and Higgins feels that an improved performance is needed.

Speaking to the Western People he stated that there was no room for errors from now on as it is a case of last chance saloon from here on in.

"It's a championship win," said Higgins. "It's vitally important. Obviously, we weren't happy with what happened a few weeks ago. Every game is a championship knockout game for us now. That's the route and we need to take it. It's the only choice we have.

"I don't know if it's a confidence builder. I suppose coming back like that will give us some confidence alright. Like I said we made too many mistakes in the first half. If we can cut them out we should be in with a shout again the next day. That's what we're looking at now."
