It has been confirmed this evening that TJ Ryan has stepped down from his position as manager of the Limerick senior hurlers.

Ryan walks away in the wake of the Shannonsiders' qualifier defeat to Clare on Saturday and after three years at the helm.

The Garryspillane clubman hinted his resignation following the 0-19 to 0-15 loss to their neighbours at Semple Stadium.

"I've given it absolutely everything, I genuinely have. I've thoroughly enjoyed it, I'm very grateful to the people who have allowed me the opportunity."

Limerick GAA thanked Ryan for his commitment and time and wished him the very best in a statement revealing his departure on its website:

"CLG Coiste Contae Luimni would like to confirm that TJ Ryan today Monday July 11th 2016 has informed the Officers of CLG Coiste Contae Luimni that he will not be going forward as Limerick Senior Hurling Manager for the 2017 Season.

"CLG Coiste Contae Luimni would like to thank TJ for his commitment and time given over his three year term as Limerick Senior Hurling Manager.

"We would also like to wish TJ and his family the very best into the future."
