Death of former Cork GAA chairman Jim Forbes

Cork GAA is mourning the passing of former county board chairman Jim Forbes.

An outstanding GAA administrator, Jim served at county, provincial and national level. He held the positions of Cork chairman and PRO in the 2000s before being appointed chairman of the GAA's Central Appeals Committee (CAC). The popular Carrigaline man also had a stint as Munster Council PRO and was chairman of the Rebel Óg central region and treasurer of the Carrigadhoun divisional board at the time of his death.

Sympathy is extended to his family and friends at this sad time.

Forbes (Carrigaline) On June 27th 2016, peacefully at Marymount after a short illness, James F. (Jim) (formerly of Cork GAA), beloved husband of the late Maura (nee McCarthy) and loving father of Fidelma, Aoife and Killian. Sadly missed by his loving family, grandchildren Ellen, Darragh, Abbie, Ciara, Teddy and Dougie, sons-in-law Seamus and Pat, daughter-in-law Ruth, brother Vincent, sister Kathleen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Fordes Funeral Home, Old Waterpark, Carrigaline Wednesday (29th) from 6.00pm until removal at 7.30pm to Church of Our Lady and St. John Carrigaline. Requiem Mass Thursday (30th) at 2.00pm, funeral afterwards to St. John's Cemetery, Ballinrea. Family flowers only please donation if desired to Marymount.
