Wicklow GAA have held a meeting solely to discuss the future of hurling in the county.

There are genuine fears for the future of the game in the Garden County as clubs struggle to field teams at underage level.

Suggestions have been made to help promote the game at underage both at club and county level with a cross border league between Wicklow and Kildare being branded a disaster.

The meeting comes in the wake of the Wicklow minor hurlers struggling to field a team in the Leinster MHC and then enduring a heavy defeat to Meath.

Delegates and county board officials sparred over a number of issues, but they all agree that something must be done to save the future of the game.
