Tipperary 0-15

Waterford 0-14

(After extra-time)

Tipperary needed extra-time to get the better of Waterford in a dramatic Munster JFC quarter-final at sun-kissed Fraher Field.

David Butler's point in the second period of extra-time proved the difference after Aiden Buckley's injury-time point had left the sides deadlocked on 0-11 each.

Tommy Twomey's charges had an early let-off when David Power missed a 13th minute for Waterford. Despite that miss, the Deise went on to lead by 0-6 to 0-4 at the interval with Fearghail O Cuirrin registering the final score of the half.

Jason Gleeson extended the home side's lead on the restart before a trio of unanswered scores from Ian Barnes (two frees) and Joe Ryan levelled it at 0-7 apiece. Waterford regained the lead, only for Buckley to force extra-time for the visitors.

Tipp led by 0-14 to 0-13 at the end of the first period of extra-time and still had their noses in front at the final whistle as they qualified for a semi-final date with Cork.
