Offaly manager Eamonn Kelly has revealed that their captain Colin Egan is in a race against time to be fit for the Leinster SHC quarterfinal against Laois.

The Faithful County booked their place in the quarterfinal courtesy of their win over Kerry in the round robin series last weekend.

They did so without two influential players, Egan and centre back Conor Doughan who were both ruled out through injury.

Egan broke a rib in training following the defeat to Westmeath, while Doughan is recovering from a broken collarbone sustained in the NHL quarterfinal loss to Kilkenny.

Doughan will be out of action for another couple of months, but Kelly told the Midland Tribune that Kelly was more hopeful on Egan's situation.

He said: "Possibly Colin but Conor has his arm in a sling, he's going to be another two months and they're two huge losses to be fair."
