Sligo manager Niall Carew believes playing at home can be a disadvantage sometimes as he prepares his side to face Roscommon at Dr Hyde Park in three weeks' time.

A lot does be made about a team having home advantage as is the case with the Rossies who will go into the Connacht SFC semi-final clash as strong favourites.

Writing in his column for the Sligo Champion, Carew stressed that they cannot wait for the game at this stage.

"We now know we will face Roscommon on Sunday the 12th of June in the Hyde, a game that we can't wait for," writes Carew.

"Roscommon had a good win over Leitrim in Carrick and racked up a nice score also. There is no doubt Roscommon will go into this Connacht semi-final as odds on favourites and after an excellent league campaign no one will argue with this.

"Roscommon will also have home advantage but that can work both ways for teams when favourites going into a game.

"Home advantage is fine when you're on top and the crowd is behind you. The other side of the coin of course is that supporters tend to get frustrated if things aren't going to plan and this tends to spill on to the players."
