Donegal's Danny Cullen.

Donegal hurling captain Danny Cullen played three games with a broken hand, his manager Ardal McDermott has revealed.

The Setanta clubman suffered the injury in the first round of the Nicky Rackard Cup, but played through the pain barrier and and scored 1-1 from midfield in the Tir Chonaill men's 2-11 to 1-18 semi-final defeat to Mayo in Letterkenny last Saturday.

"That's three matches now that Danny has played with a broken hand," McDermott explained to the Donegal Sport Hub.

"He's only been back from an injury before that. He broke his hand playing up against Armagh and has played on. That is the kind of effort and endeavour that Danny brings to the mentality of the team."
