2014 All-Ireland winning captain Kieran O'Leary has been cut from the Kerry football squad ahead of the championship.
The Dr Crokes clubman, who lifted the Sam Maguire along with joint-skipper Fionn Fitzgerald two years ago, is the highest-profile casualty as manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice trims his panel ahead of the Munster SFC semi-final against either Limerick or Clare on June 12.
According to the Irish Examiner, Jack Sherwood (Firies), Paul O'Sullivan (Valentia), Aidan Walsh (St. Mary's) and Pa Kilkenny (Glenbeigh-Glencar) have also been left out.
Their departures follow that of Tommy Walsh, who quit the panel last week in frustration at the lack of game-time he got since returning from the AFL.
Fitzmaurice is expected to draft a number of U21 players into his squad, including Killian Spillane who is a member of the famous Spillane footballing dynasty.
