The 2016 national football league climaxed on a real high today, with two mouth-watering deciders going down for decision at Croke Park.

Ulster rivals Tyrone and Cavan got the action underway at 1:30 in what promised to be a keenly-contested Division Two final. The Red Hands wemt into the game unbeaten this calendar year, while the in-form Breffni Blues had won their last five outings.

At 3:30, we were in for a real treat for the main course when big guns Dublin and Kerry collided in a repeat of last September's All-Ireland final. The Dubs were bidding for a fourth successive league title and carried a fantastic 100% record into today's game, but the Kingdom had themselves recorded six straight victories.

Something would have to give in a double-header to savour...
