Westmeath manager Michael Ryan stressed that there is no point dwelling on their league promotion/relegation loss as they prepare for the Leinster SHC round robin series.
The Midlanders missed out on promotion to Division 1B when comfortably defeated by Laois in Tullamore last Saturday.
An excellent first half performance by the Lake County had them a point up at the break, but they will be bitterly disappointed with their second half display.
Now they have only a couple of weeks to prepare for the start of the provincial campaign when they take on Offaly in the opening round.
And Ryan told the Westmeath Examiner that the focus must now be on that match.
"The first thing we do is meet on Wednesday night, we sit down and we have a good chat before training, we'll get a feel for where we are and I'd be interested to hear what the players feel as well," said Ryan.
"A lot will depend on how we approach things in the next three weeks. I'd be a very positive person and I'd be hopeful that we'll get our heads right and go at it again. But we know that there are several aspects of our game that are going to have to improve if we're going to bridge the gap."
