LGFA President: "Our prayers and sympathies are with Ciara's family"

Ladies Gaelic Football Association President Marie Hickey has expressed her sympathies to the family of 14-year-old Ciara Ryan who tragically died after suffering a suspected brain haemorrhage.

Ciara had just completed a training session with Kilanerin GAA Club in Gorey on Thursday evening and was playing with friends on the pitch when she complained of feeling unwell.

She was later brought to Wexford General Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later

"Our prayers and sympathies are with Ciara's family, who have suffered such a great and sudden loss," Marie Hickey stated.

"This is a tragedy for the community in Gorey, her club mates in Kilanerin, the Gaelic games community in Wexford and in Ireland.

"On behalf of everyone involved in the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, I would like to offer my condolences to the family of Ciara Ryan."
