Fermanagh's Paul McCusker believes that the competition for places is driving the side on this year.
McCusker feels that manager Pete McGrath and his selectors have a very strong squad to choose from as the league campaign proved.
From game to game, no player knew if he would be playing or not and this kept the players on their toes according to the talented forward.
The Ulster side secured their Division 2 status with a hard earned draw against Tyrone last week and McCusker told the Fermanagh Herald that the battle for places is part of the reason for their good form.
"Last week, there were a few of us dropped and came on and I think we showed when we came on that there's more than 15 players worth their place in this team," said McCusker.
"There's 20 odd boys who aren't happy unless they're starting. Pete's dropping boys and they're not impressed, but that's what we need. We need boys driving on."
