Despite a raft of injuries in the Sligo squad, the Yeats County picked up their first two points of the campaign and manager Niall Carew was impressed by the youngsters given a chance to shine.
Sligo defeated Westmeath to get their campaign up and running last Sunday after a few impressive performances by some of the younger players in the squad.
Kyle Cawley got the all-important goal, but he wasn't on his own in giving a good performance according to Carew.
Speaking to the Sligo Champion, he said: "He (Cawley) is a natural forward and his movement is very good. He got cramp towards the end and we took him off as a precaution because we know he has a big school game coming up next weekend.
"We're blooding players all the time. The likes of Kyle Cawley, Michael Gordon came on, Johnny Kelly has played a couple of games at corner back and Brian Egan has stepped up as well.
"People don't tend to rate Sligo, but I think Sligo are as good as anyone. If you look at some of our players - Mark Breheny was superb on Sunday, it's great to have him back."
