Keith Higgins and Kevin Keane are likely to both miss out on the opening two rounds of Mayo's upcoming National League campaign.
Both players underwent scans on Wednesday after having picked up injuries in the Connacht champions' FBD SFL defeat to Roscommon on Sunday in Castlebar.
According to the Mayo News, dual star Higgins sustained medial collateral damage to his left knee and will undergo further examination before a return date is set.
Keane meanwhile will miss the Westerners' upcoming games against Cork and Dublin after suffering a tear on his shoulder rotator cuff, which will side-line him for up to five weeks.
While Higgins is thought to have an outside chance of being fit for the Dublin clash, Keane will now be aiming to return for the trip to Ballybofey against Donegal on February 28.
There is some good news for manager Stephen Rochford, with Ballina forward Evan Regan expected to return to training tonight (Friday) after picking up a knock last week.
