Kildare manager Cian O'Neill believes having so many players involved in Sigerson Cup action is not ideal preparation for the start of the National League.
The likes of Niall Kelly, Mark Sherry, David Hyland and Neil Flynn are just a few of the players that will be lining out with their colleges over the coming weeks.
O'Neill cut his panel to 36 last week in preparation for the league opener against Westmeath on Sunday week.
And he admitted to the Kildare Nationalist that having everyone available would have been ideal.
"A lot of those college players will be pushing hard to start for us so it would have been nice to have a lead into a match of that magnitude, but we'll treat every match the same in terms of team selection and how we approach it," said O'Neill.
"The 26 we pick for that game will be as geared up as any 26 we pick but it's not ideal. We'll have them available on the day (Westmeath game) but as I said, there are matches on the Tuesday before that game, we train that night so they miss that, Thursday they will be still sore and tired because Sigerson is a championship game so you are looking at a reduced session there and then we are playing on the Sunday. It won't be ideal."
