Peadar Óg Ó Griofa is expected to miss most - if not all - of the Galway footballers' 2016 campaign after rupturing his cruciate knee ligament for a third time.

The Irish Examiner is reporting that the 23-year-old is facing another long spell out of the game after suffering the dreaded injury while playing for his club Micheal Breathnach. He has already undergone surgery, but is facing an uphill battle to play any part for the Tribesmen next year.

The news is another blow to Galway manager Kevin Walsh who recently learned that defender Johnny Duane and attacker Michael Lundy are relocating to the US.
